Whatever the source, I would have to question the logic unless a recall is in the works. As it is now, AS is one of the better features of the E60 over the E39, IMO.
Until I see something more concrete, I'm going to question the reliability of the information posted about any safety issues with AS.

Considering both the current E60 and the E60 M5 are governed at 155mph, considering there is no recall on our cars, and considering AS works so darn well that the M5 will most likely have it or an improved version of it, I find this information less than credible.

I concur that I can't believe I almost didn't get the sports package (and thus Active Steering). I can't speak highly enough of the active steering.

I was on Highway 85, and a tractor trailer a lane over and a couple of car lengths ahead had a major blowout. Lots of tire pieces everywhere. I was doing around 85-90, and Active Steering was AMAZING.

The first thing going through my head was 'Oh No! My new car!!!!' (it only had 200ish miles on it), but I manuvered around the pieces with no problem thanks to Active Steering.

I drive other rental cars when I travel, and can definately tell the difference.

MUST HAVE OPTION!!

I've got a 525 with the sports package. It great. I dont regret it at all. It makes the car look alot better. I also think the car handles very well. I couldn't be happier. Go For It. You wont regret it

The car won't be lower with the sport package because the wheels are bigger with.
