Reduced Power ??
Hello all, I have a slight problem and i’m wondering if you guys could help me figure this out.
My Car: 05 545i 6MT
It goes a little like this, this car runs great. It does need a VCG really bad though, honestly just a complete reseal of the motor.. all the various pieces of plastic/rubber gaskets. When I crank it up in the morning (cold start) it actually pulls in enough air from the valve cover(s) to just straight up misfire from initial start. I let it run for just a few seconds and restart it to run just like it always does.. Perfectly.
But this is my issue (kinda):
It has a lack of power under 2000rpm, slow revving, and difficult clutch engagement AFTER standing revs or a halfway decent brake stand burnout.
There is no SES light caused when I perceive this feeling. No shadow codes either. It is calling for a thermostat though.
And basically if I park it long enough to get into sleep mode and have a brief moment to cool down, when I crank it right back up it’ll come right back out of this “reduced power mode”.
Is this normal what i’m feeling?? Why does it last entirely until i turn the car off and let it sit ??

Battery not low, it's brand new and I charge it more often then most because I have an aftermarket system. It doesn't kill the battery, I just charge it for what I feel is maintenance.
Brand new Valeo alternator, Brand new 95Ah AGM installed and registered (as a 80ah because thats the system cap) at latest August 2018. Maybe September.
Any other ideas? I'm telling you, I totally think this is software... and it HAS to be in the DME... my old E46 use to do crap like this too!

I would fix the leak and thermo. Don't know if you have a smoke machine but I would do a smoke test just to make sure there were no more leaks. After I would troubleshoot through INPA. I'm sure the computer is saying something

Full error readout doesn’t show anything from DSC or anything like that either, you know that could be possibly limiting power as well.
Found out my vacuum flap on muffler is inoperable. Lack of exhaust flow at high RPM? Cat. protection maybe?
Sn: Read that Logic7 article too so I pulled the ECU box apart, found no moisture or evidence thereof, also verified the IVM was the latest part no. and all the fuses were intact.

Well you're going to be going in circles if the modules aren't saying anything. Fix what you know is wrong. Leaks can cause your shaking issues. Who know may fix the power loss or assist finding it.
