I sometimes feel the urge to just turn off dsc and dtc, I do this, and then i proceed to do an occasional burnout except a couple times now I focus so much on the road that i redline the car for maybe a second at most, I notice it has a limiter but I wanted to ask if I am causining lasting damage to the engine, of course it can't be good but it's only happened twice. I know im an idiot for doing it but the smile on my face is priceless after you hook up and tear off.

Don't worry BMW motors are really well protected by electronic. My E60 is quite new so I've just approached the gray zone one or two times. What's great is that now the power cut at the gray zone is smooth to complete cut at the red zone. On my previous E46, power cut was only complete at the red zone which can be confusing.
One time, I also try to engage a lower gear at high speed. The rotations went over 6000rpm which is quite high for a diesel (red zone at 4700). Immediatly, the power was cut and rotations smoothly went back to 4700 rpm by electronic control, not mine ! Then for 10 to 15 seconds, the motor was in some kind of "safe mode" because the power was reduced and accelarations very slow. Then everything went back to normal. Of course I didn't tried that a second time

The electronics will certainly protect the motor if you accelerate past redline but I know of no way that BMW's electronics can prevent damage to an engine that was overreved due to a missed downshift.
fantomas' experience (above) sounds like he got lucky. Sure the car may have cut the fuel at redline but the "rotations smoothly going back to 4700" couldn't have been because of electronics.
Bottom line -- you aren't likely to do any damage if you accelerate to redline (or attempt to accelerate past it) but you clearly can do damage if you screw-up a downshift with a traditional (non-SMG ) manual...

No, it would have been the flywheel's inertia. I've bumped the limiter. I wouldn't worry about it.
