Hey guys, I was just involved in a 3 car accident yesterday on 405 fwy and was rear ended. I'm okay but my 545i has had better days. The trunk, taillights, rear bumper, hinges, and possibly quarter panels all have to be replaced. What concerns me is that the trunk hinge that's attached to the rear frame is pushed in about 6 inches. First estimate came out to 7,000 dollars without even opening the car up, but the shop recommended me to bring the car into a BMW "authorized" repair shop. Which leads me to my next question... Does anybody have recommendations to a good auto body repair shop in the Southern California area? I live in the Orange County area but am willing to drive. Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hoever, glad to hear that you're ok after the incident.

Here are the bmw certified collision centers from the BMWUSA webiste in CA:

You should definitely put in a DV (Diminished Value) claim as the frame damage will reduce the market value of your car when you are going to sell it. Good luck.

Howard Brown & Sons is the recommended shop in the Santa Monica area...had an accident with my first 5 series a few years ago and they did a great job. Just make sure wherever you go that you insist on genuine BMW parts -- some insurance companies wont allow it, but HB & Sons will fight to get what you need. My wife had a minor accident with her X5 about a year ago and I didnt hesitate to go back to HB&Sons...its a bit of a drive from OC so maybe call your local dealer and talk to the service reps for referrals.

Good luck and hope it all works out.

I recommend tri-star in Huntington Beach. I get all the work done on my cars there.
