My Ride: 2004 545i Sport: Titanium Gray on Gray Dakota with Black Poplar Trim, SMG Transmission, Active Steering, Logic 7, Navigation

Recently had my 2004 545i iDrive updated to enable Bluetooth and install Aux input. New version of PROGMAN installed (I assume v28). Since then I've been experiencing seemingly random occurances of iDrive hangup at vehicle startup. It hangs up at the Home screen, and the controller is free to spin without any ratchet clicks. Date and Time at the bottom of the screen does not register. No ability to access audio, Nav, or any other iDrive function.
I know I could reset using the CD & DVD eject buttons but the SA says this would wipe out any stored failure codes, so I'm just accepting the outages for now until my next service visit.
Question is this --- is anyone else experiencing similar problems, and if so, have you found any resolution?
Thanks in advance for any comments!

Sounds like one or more modules did not install properly or the CCC got fried during the Progman upgrade.
Regarding not rebooting, that?s reasonable if it?s a day or two but if they are not reading your codes almost immediately, that is untenable. Remember, some important system and safety messages come via the CID so it needs to be operative.

Thanks for the response -- agree with your point about the safety messages. I'll reboot until I'm closer to my service visit.

Others are reporting that if Progman is updated, if they stop the car for a short period and turn off the engine, when they start up again the idrive does not seem to work. These sort of problems with installing Progman updates seem to be well know. Do a search on this forum and also BMWLand.
