Dealer reprogrammed my 2008 535 today per the latest BMW Recall - Version 2.38. I didn't have any problems before the reprogram and notice no difference now after the reprogram.

v. 2.39 has been delivered to all dealerships with the advisory NOT TO USE IT because of the problems it has caused in its early use.

I had 2.38 installed about 3 months ago, to address transmission issues. The operation of the transmission was definitely affected by this upgrade - at first for the better, now, not so much(different common subject for another thread). But, that's all I noticed. Everything else seems the same. I don't know what software version I had before, but it is a 2008 528i.

SA advised me the v. 2.38 upgrade was directed at: making the start up happen quicker; helping the HPFP operate more efficiently and robustly; preventing start up long cranking; making the engine more agile and robust plus other items that he did not mention.

I'd like to read the related written "recall" but have been unable to find it on the internet.

He said the V. 2.39 was disastrous and shortly after it was distributed BMW issued a "Do Not Use" directive.
