Just got my car back from recall service and it's fine--peppy as ever. Only problem is that all the individualized settings are set back to default--triple turn signal (which I don't like), pathway lighting (default is too short), speed signal (I like to be reminded when I'm going over 80), radio presets lost, Bluetooth lost, etc. Half an hour tomorrow and I should be able to fix them. Just minor annoyances. Worth it for a car like this.
Anytime dealer has to do software updates they are "supposed" to save and restore all settings. In all three of my updates they did all but NAV address book correctly. In the latest instance (21.03) they reported the save but apparently either did not restore or the MEASURES PLAN (you should always ask for copy of this document) reported incorrectly. In the previous update (20.02) they actually doubled up my NAV addresses, two of everything. And way back last year they did not get NAV restored at all. MEASURES PLAN has the steps taken (save and restore, etc), individual software status of each module, how many times it can be reprogrammed (if any limit on that particular module) and Target Data Status of old and new software which can be translated into PROGMAN (CIP) primary level (i.e 20.xx or 21.xx) but not to minor levels ( 20.01 or 21.02) unless Target Data Status changed, which BMW has done sometimes.
