So i've read many stories on the replacement of the seal due to excessive cracking and peeling, but cant find one answer.. I want to know if I can buy the part directly from BMW and replace it myself. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Hi,

It's not a complicated job - I watched the glass repair guy do mine and it took about 20 minutes. The biggest effort was taking the old rubber off and cleaning the bits and pieces out of the groove before putting the new one on (it just slips over the edge of the glass). It comes in two parts - one that goes around the top and sides, and one that goes across the bottom... Good luck!

Jon.

Hi E60 Peoples,

I just replaced my rear window trim this past Tuesday. I paid $47 for the part from the dealer and installed it myself in less than 30 minutes. It is not difficult at all and there are a few DIY floating around in the forum. I couldn't believe it was so easy and i have been driving around with this embarrassing trim on the car for months. Go for it, you will feel like you conquered the world when you get through and saved yourself at least $250.
