hey Everyone
I was wondering if anyone had some advice or experience on this one. I just bought a 2008 535xi from the auction and I love it. Only thing is Check messages says Left tail lamp and turn signal failure, as well as Right turn signal and tail lamp failure. Only thing that is not working are the turn signals. I checked out the back of the lights and noticed that all the wires had black electrical tape wrapped around them close to the pig tails on the harnesses. My theory is that some sort of after market light had been installed and modified to fit, and when they put the original lights back on, something went wrong there. Are the turn signals on one fuse? Maybe the wires touched and blew a fuse? Or maybe the wires have not been properly refitted? Anyone have a wiring diagram for the tail lights? I would really appreciate any advice!! Thanks

Angela

I will post them tomorrow morning. I just picked up the car on Friday. This is the only picture of the back I have right now.

Yes, the previous owner must have switched out the LCI tail lights before selling or returning

the vehicle to dealership or whoever.

Are you sure I don't have the LED lights? That would make sense why I have no turn signals and error messages. The wiring is probably all messed up. I did a search on ebay and saw a ton of Euro Red/Clear lights but I didnt see any OEM LED lights. Know of any websites I could get the OEMs from? I will take some closeups tomorrow so you can see them clearer, but here are two other pics I had on my computer.

where are you located? i'm not sure if bmw offered non-led tail lights in countries outside the usa after the 2008 facelift (lci).

Congrats on the car, but yes, seems like someone switched out the taillights on your car.

you can easily get the tails from BMW of Newport (Garry Romani) for roughly $500-600 for pair. His contact info is the Parts and Mod's section.

Garry Offers US spec Tailights. Since your getting new tailights, try getting Euro spec tailights, like everyone is doing over here.Much better looking
