Ok, I knew our cars came with sport tires, but I am disappointed in the life.

My 528i sport has 245/40/18 Dunlop SP Sport 01 rear tires. Treadwear rating is 280. The dealer said there are worn, but we are not quite to the wear bars...so maybe another 2k miles left on them. (BTW, dealer quoted $950 for new rear tires. hahahahaha)

we have 8000 miles left on this lease, so I will have to replace the rear tires. Is it OK to put a different brand (e.g. cheaper) on the rears and turn in the lease...or do they expect same tires all around?

But seriously. Less than 15k miles on a set of tires?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? That is horrible. We only have a 528i, not a 550i. I hope my 550i tires last longer, but I think they have the same Dunlop tires. argh.

get some non-rft's off of tirerack.com

***actually, on lease return do you have to return your e60 with rft's?

Either way, tirerack should have some good prices...

I'm not sure what's up with the low mileage....but I have a 535i with 29,500 miles and my fronts have at least 75% remaining and the rears are probably 50% remaining. But.....I literally drive 98% interstate highway and 2% city (getting to the interstate).

Since it's a lease, I'd contact BMWNA and ask. I don't know if they would take it back with non runflats or non-matching tires.

My 530xi with Bridgestone RFTs in the same size have already delivered more than 25K miles. Maybe it's the driver style. That seems short - especially for a 528.

As for lease turn in requirements - READ your lease agreement or you'll be in for some very expensive and unpleasant surprises!

Maybe you can replace the full set - here is a forum poster selling their Dunlops http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=71638&hl=

Well...I read the agreement and it states the same 'quantity, quality and grade' of tire. They are serviceable at turn in if they have more than 1/8" of tread everywhere on the tire.

What is everyone's experience with lease turn in? On the safe side, this means the exact same tire, on the other side, it is a name brand tire. Most likely RFT.
