I realize this must have been asked a thousand times but after two hours on the forum I haven't found an answer.
I am looking at buying a set of M5 166 wheels with PS2 tires mounted. Will the 285 rear tires rub with on a 545i sport? The rear wheel offset is 28 on this set.
Are spacers a neccessity or only for looks. I realize the front tires won't work and will have to replaced with 245's. Any help you can give this newbe is appreciated. thanks

Members tend to recc 275 for the rears. But 285's seem to be hit and miss when it comes to rubbing. Since the wheels are the M5 offset (ET28) and not the M6 Offset (ET17) I would think you would be alright, unless you add spacers. NO, spacers are not necessary, usually installed to push the wheel a bit further out closer to the fender and give it a wider/aggressive looking stance.
here's a good thread for reference..

Thank for the help. I read the attached thread a few times before I asked the question but since he didn't talk about offsets, wasn't sure if they would work or not. Thanks again for the help.
