Hey guys,

I purchased the E90 08 OEM License plate LEDs from BMW and installed them together with Radio Shack resistors and there is no "ERROR" message on the IDrive. The resistor needs to be installed on the positive and negative side of the wire.

LEDs P/N- 63 26 7 193 293- 2 ea.
Resistors- 50 ohm, 10 watt, 10% tolerance (Cat No. 271-133) 2 ea.

But do they run hot? I've heard many stories of resistors clearing up the error issue, but always at the expense of running hot. Let me know!

Not too hot. They look great and actually match the LEDs under the outside rear view mirrors.

The real problem is heat from the resistors will eventually (sooner or later) damage the LEDs. Remote mounting the resistors is one approach to resolve the issue. I chose to install the Luxer1 12-LED modules with the supplied festoon resistors. No damaging heat, no error warnings, and the light output is better than OEM.

Had mine for a year. No heat issues and no bulb problems. Looks and runs like a charm.

Looks great, but the last thing I want is for my license plate to be MORE visible! Do they make really dim bulbs that barely meet DOT guidelines for legality?
