Thats what I thought, I just wasn't sure if something like that would actually happen, I suppose I should just play it safe and drive the extra distance to get gas that I know is fresh and good to use. Gasoline (and its other hydro-crabon constituents don't last long when not under pressure) has a nasty habit of evaporating. Just thought I'd see if anyone else ever thought of this or experienced it.

so you were worried the 3 week old fuel in the tank was stale so you pulled up to a decrepid gas station with spiderwebs on the premium pump handle and filled up with 3 year old fuel?

i would be more consernced of the spider webs and rust getting into my gas and through my engine-that will be a real pisser.

You sound like this is the first time you filled up your car--what do you usually do? avoid rusted gas fillers

If a gas station got caught selling regular or mid-grade as permium, the owner would get fined, lose his business license, and probably face criminal charges. I don't think anybody would be dumb enough to try that.

There are different tier ratings for gas comapanies. I had a fiasco with a local quick stop carrying a well known brand of fuel. I have been using that place for years. Car was idling rough at start up and you had to keep your foot on the brake when putting in revers. Car would lurch. BMW dealsership found gas had 15% ethanol. Do a search on google for Top Tier gas. Their standards are higher.
