Can someone give their best estimation on when the 5 will be re-designed?(2010? 2011?) I'm formulating my future buying plans and juggling multiple scenarios. Thanks!

You should be fairly safe with your assumption of 2010 to 2011. The E34 5 series ran from 1988 through to 1996 when the E39 was launched. The current E60 was launched in mid 2003 so a 7 to 8 year life cycle is the norm for this model.

Given that BMW do a 6-7 year model runs, 2010 is prob the earliest. However, minor facelifts can be expected throughout the 7 yr run.

So it doesn't appear that the trunk dimensions were changed from what my eye discerns but they messed with the rear lighting and such to make it flow better. True?

Have been wondering the same thing and am thinking maybe 2010 as a 2011 model year. I won't be an early adopter again however so I am thinking maybe I'll get a new 5 in 2012 or 2013.

I prefer the old 7. The new design looks good, but has a bit of lexus in it.
