What is RDS?

Welcome back Paul! RDS is the where the radio call sign displays and depending on the radio station and what they broadcast even the name of the song that is playing. So instead of seeing "101.1" you see "K-EARTH" and below at the bottom left of I-drive you see the current song description.

Guys, slow down and read the posts.

The key is -- Do you have NAV or not?

As far as I know, RDS still does not work for cars with NAV.

If you DO NOT have NAV, then I think the new software versions of 13.2+ allow RDS to work again. You may need to turn it on via the iDrive menu.

BUT AGAIN, I don't think that button even exists for cars with NAV (CCC computer). I think there's a software conflict (imagine that) for NAV cars.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

I spoke to my dealer about this today. He says that RDS will not work on cars with NAV - thats it, nothing at all they can do. Currently, there is no fix for this.

What pisses me off is the fact that BMW had it in the brochure of the car, describes it in the manual etc., but its just not there.

I have NAV and RDS used to work with it. I just upgraded to 13.2 and it does not work with 13.2. So RDS can work with NAV, just not in the latest SW releases. Hopefully it returns later.

Worked for me, too, but not well. Worked poorly, but best on All Station FM. Not as well as the X3 loaner that had no NAV and no iDrive.

Do they test the software to see if they are taking backsteps before they release it?
