Rattle/Knock from transmission area?

Recently I began noticing a very quiet rattle/knock type sound coming from the transmission area. The car is shifting normally and it feels like it is not down on power, but I'm wondering what it might be. It is not a constant rattle. Does not happen at idle. Seems to be more noticeable from 1500 RPM to 3000 RPM but perhaps I just can't hear it above that due to engine noise. Seems to happen during or right after a shift or when I'm coming off of the throttle and going back on again.
Any ideas?
