I also have a 2004 530i and so far ownership has been great. I've had a few minor issues with recalls but haven't had any serious problems yet. My car is going in for service on Tuesday and hopefully this time I'll get a BMW loaner (I got a GMC Blazer last time it was in).

Weclome aboard,

Your car is still under the factory warranty. take it to your local dealer, meet one of the service advisors and let him know that you would like to have your car serviced by him from this point on. Ask him to check your car's history. this should pull up any recall campaigns or software updates.

I recommended that you have a designated (personal) service advisor at your local BMW Center. His job is to make sure your car is safe and you are a happy BMW owner.

BMW wants you to be happy and they are willing to go the extra mile to make it happen.

I love'd mine till week 2 where the dealer performed a software upgrade to install & enable my phone.

HOWEVER hopefully this issue will be fixed soon by means of BMW trade assist.

Other than the fact that my car must have been built little after 5pm on a friday afternoon - probably in the dark - It drives awesome, and have NOT had any mechanical issues.

If my car wouldn't have its iDrive issues, i'd give it a 100%, drives like a champ, its comfy, roomy, gets pretty decent gas milage & even the 3.0l has a good amount of power for a 6 cylinder.

just try to keep it away from software upgrades & you'll be fine.

Overall is pretty good exept the quality of the car is not as good as previous version BMWs.

All 4 Doors Making Cracking Noises when my car start moving or stop in slow speed, steering wheel make some strange noises too (sounds like a scew losing inside of the steering colum when the road condition is totally flat or turning at 40-60 miles).

Brake is making squeezing noise at 5300miles, took to dealer last week and was told it's because of brake dust, but now the noise is worst than ever.

The button that open the center console is totally wear and shows the color underneat the surface layer, and i rarely open the center console.

i agree the brake dust sux and the squeaking was an issue but was resolved quickly and also had problems with the radio. all problems have been very minor even though im at the dealer alot. I would definately 100% get another one.
