E60 is almost perfect in every other way, exept for the back seats. They are simply horrible. I used to own a Camry before, and the difference between back seat comfort is amazing. Camry has so much space in the back and the seats are so comfy... i wish BMW backseats would be more reclined, i hate how you have to seat with almost straight back. And wtf is that huge trunk for? I could fit several dead bodies in there. Its not a frigging truck damnit.

I know, as i driver i should give a shit how comfortable the backseats are, but i actually feel ashamed when my friends have to endure the back ride.

Anyone else feels the same way?

No, not really. I could care less about the back seats.

Same here....but I could not care less about the back seats. :P

No complaints here. My passengers don't seem to mind either. About the same size if not bigger than my GS430.

Same here...i don't care about the back seats too much.
I care much more about the front seats, especially the driver's seat. Although i ordered the car with sport seats...i find that the back support (latteral support) is awfully bad. Maybe the seat is a bit too big for me...i dunno it feels like it's for fat people. When taking very agressive corners i always find myself not huged in the seat and the fins that should be there to hold me tight are very small and opened up. That's in fact my biggest dissapointment in the car and i'm btw 1.74 hieght and 75kilos or 150 pounds right?
I found the M seats in the M5 way better and the way that the latteral support is active on turns is a big plus also.
Maybe it's time for me to consider a smaller car and more nimble....that's another reason...:D

Yep, one of the most utterly inexplicable differences between British English and American English. I never could understand how "could care less" is effectively intended to mean the same as "couldn't care less". Yet another example in support of George Bernard Shaw's famous quote.... :D

I have never sat in the back seat, so I can't really compain. My kids seem okay and the few adults that have used the back have not complained, not that they would. I will check out the back seats now that you bring this up.

I do, however, appreciate the larger trunk. The trunk in my 540 was pitiful.

The backseats are perfect for me. Attachment 21545
I guess when the kids get bigger I may have to graduate to a 750 or what ever bmw will call it by then. As for the trunk, I really apreciate the extra room. Perfect for multiple strollers, golf clubs, and tons of other stuff all fitting at the same time!!! I say  o:)

Do you have the folding rear seats?

I don't have the folding rear seats. I don't see any problems with the rear other than that horrible center arm rest. The trunk is bigger than I'll ever need but it's not an issue for me. However, given an option for a smaller trunk I would take it.

Nope, got non-folding seats.
But they are almost vertical <_<
They shold have sacrifised some of that huge trunk space for more reclined seats.
