i have '08 and my key works at a distance of 10 car lengths (100ft??).....key to chin of course.....this is in NYC in plain site of view as im walkin' closer and closer from about 2blocks away!! -car is tinted as well-

what do you guys think? i think theres something wrong but not sure what it could be, as it always works, but only from really close.

press the key against the side of your head - then press unlock/lock, you should get about twice the distance.

I know it sounds really dumb, but it works!
By the way, the range is actually dependant on which side of the car you are on.
If the driver door is facing your side, the range is longer that if it's facing away from you.
The antenna is in the roof lining over the drivers door
