I have the newer electronic, stop/start button key and my range for unlocking and locking the car is crap, i have to be within 2/3 meters of the car for the central locking to work. I didnt think this was normal, but my dealership checked it and said everything was fine what do you guys think? i think theres something wrong but not sure what it could be, as it always works, but only from really close.

My remote works at about 25 feet. Good luck!

I can do it 60' through my office window. But i have the old key. Maybe its your window tint. I hear the metal content can filter the radio frequency.

I have Comfort Access on my '07 and the range with my fobs to lock and unlock varies from a minimum of 20-25ft to a max of almost 50ft. I've never tried to open or lock from a greater distance.

The remote should work quite far! Meters and meters away from the car!

I thought it should work from alot further aswel, the worst thing is.... i dont even have my windows tinted yet!!! ive been putting it off until i get this sorted, because i knew if i had tints the Bmw dealership would just say its because of your tints, getting them to carry out warranty repairs is like draining blood from a stone.

The range sucks.

I could start my 2008 Jeep from 120 feet away. You practically have to touch your tongue to the BMW before the remote works. I have no idea why the range is so short. It seems to suck less when appoaching from behind, but still stupid.

I think yours is doing what they do.

I just had mine fixed at the dealership a few months ago. It was getting worse by the week. They'll need to replace the "antenna amplifier'" to increase the range. Mine now works far better than it ever has.

Hahaha, it sucks less when approaching the car from behind because the remote locking antenna is located at the top right hand corner of the rear window. i think we need to do what was done to bradleyjs car. Thanks for the info bradley now i can tell them what needs to be done.

I have the same problem, the car wont unlock or lock any distance greater than 10 ft away.... like you guys mentioned, I can unlock the car if I park in Head First from 15 ft away, but if I back in, then its almost next to the car.. Im going to sched an appointment with my dealer to check it out... Thx for the input
