Range on newer electronic keys
I have the newer electronic, stop/start button key and my range for unlocking and locking the car is crap, i have to be within 2/3 meters of the car for the central locking to work. I didnt think this was normal, but my dealership checked it and said everything was fine
what do you guys think? i think theres something wrong but not sure what it could be, as it always works, but only from really close.

I have Comfort Access on my '07 and the range with my fobs to lock and unlock varies from a minimum of 20-25ft to a max of almost 50ft. I've never tried to open or lock from a greater distance.

I can do it 60' through my office window. But i have the old key. Maybe its your window tint. I hear the metal content can filter the radio frequency.
The range sucks.
I could start my 2008 Jeep from 120 feet away. You practically have to touch your tongue to the BMW before the remote works. I have no idea why the range is so short. It seems to suck less when appoaching from behind, but still stupid.
I think yours is doing what they do.

I just had mine fixed at the dealership a few months ago. It was getting worse by the week. They'll need to replace the "antenna amplifier'" to increase the range. Mine now works far better than it ever has.

I have the same problem, the car wont unlock or lock any distance greater than 10 ft away.... like you guys mentioned, I can unlock the car if I park in Head First from 15 ft away, but if I back in, then its almost next to the car.. Im going to sched an appointment with my dealer to check it out... Thx for the input
