My Ride: 2009 535i - Stock...For Now 1989 Chevrolet Truck - Too Many Mods to List

So I've only had my car about a month and can't figure out why my car beeps at me. It happens intermittently and it's two quick beeps followed by one longer one that lasts about a second. No alert messages show up on my dash and everything reads normal. I haven't noticed any commonality as to when it happens. It's happened driving down the freeway, at a stop light or even when I was parked. I don't have parking sensors, so I know it's not that. Any suggestions?

Don't worry, it's only the chime feature on the clock, telling you it's now the top of the hour! And BTW, it's controlled through the iDrive so you can turn it off if you want!

I thought parking sensors were standard on the e60?

Not in the US... except on the 550 I believe. I know they weren't on my 2004 545 either.

PDC is an option on most E60s. Part of Premium package on my 2008 535i.
Chime is definitely the hour and half hour notification. Usually chime one minute before. Turned mine off to keep peace in family.
BTW, welcome to forum.

Geez...no wonder I couldn't figure it out. Thanks for clearing that up! I'm going to turn it off ASAP. Who knew these cars were equipped with a clock tower. I actually have the Premium Package on my 535 though, so it's not standard on that.

Thanks for the welcome. This is my first BMW and it's been a fun car so far. I'm already dropping some cash with Trinity. I can't leave anything alone....so it begins.

I actually think it's cool having the hourly chime, reminds me what time it is and how much time I spent driving especially on long trips.

Welcome to the forum!

In 2008 it was part of the Premium package and in 2009 it was part of the Comfort Package but only for 535s. Packages also vary by country.
