Why would my windshield wipers not work when I press the button for the auto/sensor function?

The indicator light comes on and the wipers swipe once immediately as if to let me know the command was received, but then no matter how torrential the downpour, no further windshield wiping.

It has been this way since I purchased the car

any thoughts?

Sounds like a bad sensor... mine was replaced and I don't recall the green light blinking or anything... it just illuminated solid like always. I was having my AUX Input installed and the car wouldn't take the programming due to the bad sensor... BMW sent out a PUMA and ended up covering the cost of the sensor replacement because without it the Aux Input wouldn't be recognized... I got lucky!

Did you purchase the car new? If the winshield was replaced it is likely the sensor would not have been installed correctly.

I have the same issue, however It started happening when i switched windshields. Original windshield was basic, new windshield has the solar coating. Do you think the different windshields, have different sensors, and I have to get my car coded to work with the solar windshield?
