I had my windshield replaced recently with an upgraded one (sun protection + green line) at a BMW dealer and now my rain sensor misbehaves. When it starts to rain I press the button then the wipers make a couple of sweeps and then they die. After that turning the button on and off does nothing. If I turn off the engine and then back on again the same thing happens. pls help

Shouldn't you get your dealer to fix what they unfixed?

I don't believe you can have the green line on the windshield with the rain sensor or HUD. Sounds like somebody made a mistake at the dealer not telling you about this. Good luck
cheers

When my (standard) windshield cracked a couple of months ago, it was replaced with a UV reflective screen with green band, because that's what the guy had in stock... haven't had any problem with the rain sensor since.

There is quite a large marked area on the screen by the rain sensor where there is no UV coating, which doesn't match up correctly with the sensor/mirror module.

I was having my car serviced and I overhead an SA talking to another customer about the same issue. It seems there are very close tolerances with replacements. You should take it back to have it looked at would be my rec.

I know HUD doesnt go with the green band but rain sensor should. They've messed something up while replacing it I will have to go back. They had also damaged the sun roof but I noticed that while still at their forecourt so they took the car back. Bored...

I don't know much about the "green band" windshield but clearly after any windshield replacement, the rain sensor is supposed to be re-initialized...

I am taking back my car this tuesday to fix my non working rain sensor. It never worked since they replaced my windshield a month ago. I guess they didn't do the initialization like Rudy just mentioned. But it's ok since I will also have other issues that they will need to fix like radio/cd cutting off, clunk on the steering wheel when turning to right when manuevering around parking lots or driving up towards my driveway & low oil pressure warning.
