Went to my parents for dinner tonight. Left my cell phone in the car with the bluetooth power on my cell phone still on. When I came out to the car, the cd was playing and the I drive screen was lit up.
Could leaving the phone in the car have caused the car to not go to "sleep"??
Thanks

Interesting. It was my understanding that not going to sleep did not mean having the stereo and iDrive screen on, only that the internal computer system would continue to run, potentially draining the battery. Do a search, the stereo remaining on was a known software bug in a earlier version, but I see you have a 2005. I'd be surprised if you had that version.

After picking up my car last night I made a quick stop and when I turned the car off the radio kept playing. I did have my BT phone with me but had not made or received any calls. I started the car again and turned it back off and the radio stayed on... so I locked the car and went into the store. When I came back it was off.
This is not a common occurance. It has happened a couple of times before but only when I turn off the car during an active phone call.
FWIW.

You probably need the new v18 like I need as this has been told to solve the release of BT function.

I amusing a Motorola V551 from Cingular. This has only happened once. I do remeber the car not terminating the call. I'll get v18 next time I go in.

I have had this happen to me before.
The iDrive remained on after parking... and wore down my battery.
I have also had times where I end a call with Bluetooth, yet the car continues to hold the phone hostage for several minutes. The call timer just keeps on ticking. The only way to stop it is to wait for it to finish, or CTRL-ALT-DEL the iDrive.
However, I recently had my software updated to v 18.1, and I've not had either problem yet.
I did notice that v 18.1 loads iDrive faster than before.... but for some reason, al of the voice commmands now take longer to process.
