I have a 2004 545i with Logic 7. The radio stations are identified by numbers only, with no call letters. The names of songs and artists do not appear anywhere on the screen and I have tried every menu to find an option for RDS. Can anyone help?

You'll need a CIP update... basically, it was disabled due to issues and re-enabled with a software update. You'll have to pay for the update if you don't have a good relation with your dealership. Since you have an 04, and you don't have RDS, I'd suggest you call your dealership up and request they put you in for MP3 update. Cobradav has posted, recently again, information regarding this information. I'm in a similar boat, and having it done next week. Best of luck.

Correct and good advice on the MP3 activation to get the software update. But Tulsa545, for us with the '04 545's, you have to have navigation to get the MP3 working. Nav and non-Nav equipped cars actually have a differrent radio and computer internally. Non-Nav before a certain date (can't recall exactly, do a search) cannot get MP3 working because of this hardware issue. Good luck. Funny enough, the software issues that initially led to the deactivation of the RDS feature was because of an imcompatibility with the Nav based hardware systems. I have had RDS from day one because I don't have NAV. Of course I'll never play MP3's either... :'(

Good call on that one the non-nav. I didn't even think to ask whether or not he had nav.

Thank you all so much for the replies. I do have NAV, so sounds like I'm headed for my first appt with the dealer in Tulsa. Wish me luck and thanks again.
