Spec33: That's cd-text, not RDS.

Interesting, anyone in the US having v12 seems to have killed their RDS. My UK update has left my RDS working fine.

Yes, I know that it is text. Never seen or heard anyone discuss it. An it was new to me. I know what RDS is; I use to have it before they installed V.12. Just want to give some additional information.

I had heard of the text on the CD's, but the disc has to be specially coded for it and only a few (Sony I know) makers do it. Strange how it works only in the dash but not in the 6-disc changer. I don't seem to have a disc coded, so I've never seen the CD text before your picture, thanks spec33.

Ah, OK. We've had quite a few threads on cd-text, so I assumed you had seen them. My apologies.

My RDS worked before the software update to v12. The dealer told me that this version of the software disabled the RDS due to conflicts with other systems? I think dealer personnel are still learning about this car as they have few answers regarding Idrive questions. I learn a lot more reading this board.

RDS works on mine and i have 12.1. But Cd text does not work, even with dash CD player.

Maybe its a problem in USA? Not Sure.....
