Hello, I'm new to the forum and new to me 2004 545i. The car needs a little bit of work suspension wise. Definitely needs new struts. I was told it was a M Package but how can I make sure? Also if it is a M Package where can I find some decently priced front struts ASAP. Ready to do some work this weekend. I see sport suspension, but not M Package, Active Suspension. So many options that I DO NOT want to order the wrong struts. Thanks in advance!

I hadn't heard of an M Package. Will be interested in the answer. Had you looked up and decoded your VIN number? I just installed Bilstein's and they are awesome! What a difference in the ride over the old, worn out struts.

When I look up front struts they are a couple denotations. Some say not for active suspension, not for sport suspension, not for M Package suspension. Then some say Sport Suspension, not for M Package. I'm just trying to figure out what type my 545i need. It seems like it has sport suspension but how can I tell.

If you are trying to determine if you have Sport Package, search and you will find for sure. I know this has been answered. I think the answer is that your rear bumper will have black inserts among other clues. I don't know much about M Package, but it looks like it could be a trim level.

Go to this VIN Decoder site:

You can enter in the last 7-digits of the VIN and see what options were included with the car at the time of shipment.

You can also take off the wheels and see if the BMW part number label on the strut is still readable.
