My Ride: i have a 2009 535i xDrive. bought it with very little to no mods. sadly the only things i have done to it is vrsf catless downpipes, twin air intake, and a cobb tuner.
questions with 2009 535i xdrive problems
so just recently i had installed a cobb tuner on my 09 535xi. after installation i made it around 20 feet down the road before my cooling fan blew apart and sent blades into my oil cooler dumping every bit of oil onto the road. i have a new oil cooler and fan on the way and im just wondering if there is anything else i should look for, or if it has anything to do with the tuner.

Wow, that really sucks. I don't see how the tuner would have done that. I know with MHD it has some max cooling mode (not sure what it does other than tell the thermostat to lower its temp or something) and maybe it increases fan speed or something, but I kind of doubt it. Had you done any other work recently around the fan that could have potentially bent/broken any of the blades?

the only work i’ve done in that area was a month or month and a half ago. replaced both hoses that connected at the bottom of the oil filter housing unit. i remember dropping a socket into the fan but i grabbed a magnet and got it out before i started the car so the fan wouldn’t hit it and brake blades
