Been reading up again on doing the tranny fluid those of you familiar with KyleB’s service thread, might also have read the post quoted below on getting fluid flushed from the torque converter.
Since I am going to change fluid again and rather than draining and filling twice to get rid of MOST of the dirty fluid I am contemplating doing this Flushing torque converterinstead as I will be replacing the pan/filter anyway.
This looks like a much better solution, just curious if anyone here has done this also and how it went?
i find this rather ingenious.....and just hate to do it twice within a week or so.

Interesting. Knowing me, I'd probably take the easy way out and just drain, add 5 qts fluid run, drain, add 5qt fluid, and drain again before doing the real work. Something along that line. Maybe do it over a period of a few weeks before doing the real tranny service. My rationale would be by the time one purchases the parts its gonna get close to the cost of fluid. factor in time and your money ahead. I admit I just skimmed the procedure, and will definitely review it closer when there is time.

btw also found this below but sorta hate to fool around with the cooler lines for fear of they started leaking afterwards, it’s also a neat way to go.

Thanks for explanation. I was referring to his link near the bottom, about 3/4 way down. I do have a lift, its actually a bit tedious to get the E60 on to it, because it has to be centered perfectly. My lift arms are a bit long I guess. My Firebird is much more forgiving when driving on.

Yeah, that’s a dead link, I have contacted ZF asking if they can send it to me but no dice yet, however I believe it’s just moving the steptronic thru the gears to make sure fluid goes around, just we do with refilling.
