I just recently got the damn notification pop up on the iDrive. Read all the post on the recall, etc, etc. My question is, can this fix be a DIY?
My car is not under warranty and is over 100K. Anyone one know what's involve in replacing the "mat sensor" ?
Does this alarm mean the restraint system no longer functions or its just the sensor that's crapped out?

Saw this on ebay "BMW SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR SEAT MAT EMULATOR BYPASS"

Thanks.

It's a recall...even though if your car is over 100k miles, take it the BMW, and they will fix it.

Not necesssarily.
I went to the dealership for a recall on brakes. After they fixed that, I went home and then the Passenger Restraint error popped up. I called the the dealership, gave them my VIN, and they told me that my car was not under recall. I have an 05 545i, made in NOV 2004, 75k miles. From what I read online, my car should have been on the list but it's not. I called a lot of people but ultimately, they told me that I have to pay the repairs by myself.
