My Ride: Retired: 2007 530i Silver Gray/Gray Leather, premium/sport/logic 7/hd radio/comfort access/park distance control
2010 535i M Sport Alpine White/Black premium/M-Sport,L7,Sat,HD Radio/Paddle Shifters/heated seats/comfort access/navigation/sport gear stick
New owner of a 07 530i and drove the vehicle a bit in sport mode today. WOOOWWW, loved the higher revs, so my question, is it okay to drive in this mode all the time or is it bad for the engine?
Thanks

It'll be ok. I drive about 50-50 in sports mode and normal mode. but be sure you break in the engine before reving the heck out of it.

I think its fine... I've been driving in sport mode constantly for the last 2 months, only putting it to D when i'm in traffic or moving slowly in traffic. Other than that, always DS. I have another question tho, as far as I notice, DS consume a little bit more fuel right? Can someone confirm that?

In short with out having to argue... the answer is yes.
BUT
I believe techniclly no wether you're in DS or D the car drinks the same amount of gas if you use the gas pedal accordingly but because of the nature of DS, the gas being more sensitive the human will cause the car to drink more gas.
Meaning the human say is use to applying about 1/4 throttle in order to get the car going in D mode and the human does the same in DS mode and the car "feels like it has more power" because the throttle is mapped differently.
For simplicity sake... 1/4 throttle in DS might = 1/2 throttle in D mode hence it uses more gas... so hence if you apply only 1/8 throttle in DS mode you use the same amount of gas as you would in D mode...
Theres a long thread arguing this thing a while back and theres people who have argued back and forth. Its not worth arguing over.

D mode tends to upshift earlier than DS mode. For example, when you're driving at 45mph in D mode, you're already in 6th gear, but if you're in DS, you'd be in 5th gear.
Also, throttle response is more sensitive in DS mode.

My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.
On both my 03 325xi and my 05 525 I have used DS constantly. Now my wife constantly uses the SD on her 3, she loves it. As far as how much fuel you use, I have no idea.
