Hi,
I am new here and wanted to get your opinion too.
So I am considering 530d (with new engine 2007 170kw) which is upgradable to 206kw (Hamann remap). As the 530 is 170kg lighter I thing I am makeing the right choise?
thanks
Rainer

not really, as you will run the risk of voiding your insurance.
this is from a personal view not from a dealership view point.
id hate to spend all that on a 5 and then be told a year down the line if teh turbo blows sorry mate you got to pay full wake due to voided warranty, and i know it is very hard to detect ,
but i think the guy test driving it when fixed will notice the slighlty improvment thats my 2 cents
go the 535 route

Dear rainerb ,
The new 530d has 173 kW. The 535dA 210 (will get some more for the MY '08).
A 530d remapped can easily have more than 220 kW.
But is it worth it - no.
Or yes, if you are willing the costs of new parts and no warranty.
Best buy is the 3.0 litre MY '08 525dA with 145 kW.

Seriously speaking go to the 535d way if You like auto box and You have that extra money. If You are manual man then only eay is the 530d.
I have about 100k km on odo 90k after chipmod and no mechanical problems.

many with a diesel have gone with a remap, as well as those that do not have a diesel. with that kind of gain that is guaranteed, and mostly no problem with the remap, im sure all those owners have been grinning from ear to ear.

No contest, get the 535 and then remap that
Its worth knowing companies such as DMS will warranty all claims that BMW refuse to during the manufacturers guarantee period.

I haven't heard of other companies (other than DMS) giving this type of (verbal) warranty. I'm sure board members would be interested.
