I'm picking up a US-spec 530i in Munich in a week and would like to buy the aspheric mirrors that Europeans enjoy. I could easily go down to the nearest dealer and buy them, but they're quite expensive now -- especially the electrochomic mirrors - about EU 500

Since I'm also going to be in Berlin and Frankfurt for a few days each, is there any dealer that sells the offical BMW mirrors for less? Stated differently, is there any price shopping to be done in Germany, or do dealers all sell them for the same price througout the country?

Thanks much

Yep, they're not cheap..
price will not differ in Germany.

Maybe you should also consider the good looking M5 mirros, if your going to fork out that much cash look for a deal on ebay for M5 mirrors - maybe you get lucky and has the same attributes you seek...

Most dealerships are "Niederlassung"en, which means, they are owned by BMW AG.
There are some non AG dealerships. But since they are certified BMW dealers, they all have the same prices.
The "free" non-AG dealerships can only give you a little discount on the price.

You are exporting them, so, not being a German resident, you don't need to pay the 16% VAT and can get it back if I'm not mistaken.

Also, have you looked for the mirror including the housing? Or just the glass itself? You don't need the housing, only the glass for both sides.

If you buy them here, don't put them on or in your car over here. Wait until it has passed the harbour. ;)

Yes, I'm aware that I only need the glass. I went through this process with my E39 in 2000 and just held onto the non-conforming mirrors until my car was back in Los Angeles.

The only oddity is that those mirrors cost about 80 Euros/pair (non-dimming variety). My new car comes with dimming mirrors, but if the dimming option is that much more costly. I'll ask if the non-dimming variety will function properly when installed because I'm only on a two year lease, and don't want to throw money away needlessly.
