I just bought my first BMW (2004 545i with 60,000 miles). The car is in pristine condition and on the highway drives like a dream. My question to other members with similar cars is does the car start out slow at first. It seems that unless I punch the accelerator right at first the car starts out fairly slow. Could a cylinder be missing or is this how this car drives.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ke

try it in sport mode. for fuel economy if you are light on the gas pedal from 0mph the trans will start you off in second gear. if you are in sport mode or slam the gas pedal to the floor you can start in 1st gear i believe. however driving like that will dramatically decrease your fuel economy.

i think its just your driving style for now so dont panic yet. search the forum for a topic that describes the process for resetting driver preferences. if you reset it and start fresh, the car can adapt itself to how you like to drive....ie aggressive or miserly.

i have the same car, same year, same engine (with a few performance mods) but i would def not call it slow out the gate so do some investigation but im sure you can switch it up a bit for better performance/fun.

Thanks for the info Umichchris. Sounds like good news if that is the case. Other than that the car is sweet. Owner mentioned she couldn't get her Iphone to sync with the bluetooth in the car. Have you had a similar problem?

Also considering a sometype of extended warranty. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks

Ken

i dont know if the bluetooth will work with the iphone....you may need a software update from the dealer on that....but im not very familiar with that because my car did not come with Navigation....however I am in the process of upgrading to the 2010 version of the nav system. Do a search on the forum and there area a ton of topics on that subject, im sure an easy answer is out here for you.

as for the extended warranty....you will get a lot of different answers on that. me personally, i dont believe in extended warranties unless they are Certified Pre Owned warranties offered and honored by BMW USA....any other warranty plan is 99% a big scheme waiting to happen. You'd be better off taking that 2 or 3 thousands dollars and putting it in the bank as a rainy day fund in the event something were to go wrong (knocks on wood). 95% of my repairs and maintenance I perform myself....but most are not like that though....

enjoy that sweet ride!

No. This just increases the response time for the gas pedal. No programming is involved and it won't damage your car in any way. I've had the V1 Sprint Booster on my car for two years and have had no problems.
