Hi everyone!

I'm not much of a poster or a modder, but it was high time for new shoes. My Sport Package Dunlop's were shot in the rear and I was ready to move from Runflat 18s to non-runflat 19s, having heard the ride will not suffer.

So how'd I pick the 167 M6 wheels and the General Exclaim UHP XL? Lot's of thinking and cruising the forums! I live in Boston and travel in New Englad for work, and I'm on track to do about 30,000 miles a year. (I have a 17" winter setup.) So first off...expensive tires were out given the miles I'm doing. The General's fit the bill...perfect size, great reviews, and $600 delivered from Tire Rack.

As for wheels, I was deliberating between Replica's and OEM, and 166 vs 167. Replica's were soon out, thank god. These OEM's are worryfree and weigh 20lbs! I didn't want to stray from the "BMW look", so I didn't consider other wheel vendors. After many weeks, I decided on the 167, and for many reasons. For one, they are BAD A$$ looking on black. The 166s and 172s are great looking, especially on light colors, but the 167's have a more unique and exclusive look IMO, especially since they are not your standard silver colored wheel, which will be much more popular with the new LCI sport package out and about. The contrast between the machined spokes and the carbon gray interior is stunning...pictures do not do them justice, AT ALL. Sometimes they look a tiny bit more cumstom than I anticipated. In a week I already have more comments than the last year. Lastly, they are 10x better for brake dust; not only are they easier to clean, but they hide the dust much better than my silver 124s

So what do you think? I'm sure many will say I need the M-Tech kit, but that is currently out of the question, due $, highway sandblasting, and the likelihood of front bumper rash in Boston. I am considering adding 12mm rear spacers...but that's up in the air. As for ride height, I am happy with the sport suspesion, especially with snowy winters.

And to be brief...I am happy with the General's. They were surprsingly quieter and smoother over bumps, but sure enough they felt softer in the corners. Keep in mind I was going from little tread to brand new, runflat to non-runflat, and quite simply, they are a much cheaper tire. Now I am used to them cornering, and LOVE the more forgiving ride...it's as if I'm driving my 17" winter setup on the straightaways. They supposedly do great in the rain, have a much better tread life (380) than the stock Dunlop's and the popular PS2's, and did I mention they are $600 shipped!!! Now replacing the rears, which wear twice as fast, will only cost me $300.

Finally, I paid a whopping $200 at Sullivan tire for road force mounting. I felt taken advantage of, but it was last minute with no appointment. Oh well. One question...what pressure should these be running at? Different than stock I assume?

Enjoy the pics...but note that I haven't given her a detail since the fall and its only a 3meg Camera. Full Zaino detail to come after Pollen season. Thanks to all the help and from any forum members I PM'd!!!

Awesome! I agree... the #166s are better for lighter color cars and for black the #167s are AWESOME! I've seen it in person on brian1225s 550 and it was just stunning. Made me want to get them.

No detailed pics until Malibu Canyon Meet. Mods aren't done yet.

What funny is that I was the first buyer of the 167s that eventually went to KCooke82. The sale fell through b/c I wanted them shipped to San Jose but my verified shipping address is San Diego. Also, EBMCS03's "new" 166s were my "old" 166s. :D

I still love the 167s!

IMO both wheels look fantastic. The 166's are more conservative, and the 167's gives an agressive "show me what you got" look. It's an individual decision. I'll probably get both.
