My Ride: White/Tan, Nav, comfort seats, sport steering wheels, sport suspension, active steering, rear window shades, rear shade, heated seats
Model Year: '07-530i
Default 2005 530i

Any reservations on this particular model year? I know it's not N52 ('07) but since I can't find one, I am thinking about considering this '05 with sport suspension/active stearing, any recommendations? Would sport suspension/active steering combo make up for 225/230 numbers?

Thanks

'05 is a great year for E60, it's the last year you could get the M54 engine. It's a great motor, very DIY, very reliable. It's not going to win any drag races, but I find it to have more than enough power for everyday driving. I think you'd be happy with it, I have an '04 and looked for an M54 powered car when I was car searching. Good luck.

How many miles does the car have on it that you are looking at. I have the exact same car without the suspension you are talking about with 170k. It has been a great car with only one major issue with the transmission but I fixed it myself. As long as the car has been well maintained it is a good choice. The M54 is a strong engine and I'm glad that's what I ended up with. My friend has an 07 and I've been doing the maintenance on his car. There is a big difference. The issues he has I have not had to deal with. If you are going to make a decision the M54 in my opinion is the best one to make. Just make sure the records are good or you are mechanically inclined.

Don't know mileage, but have it checked out by a pro, including codes. Get the maintenance records from the seller.

M54 is a good engine, but if you get a 100Kmi+ car the car will have issues.

Let me reiterate "as long as it has been well maintained". Every car has issues if it's over 100k it's what is called wear and tear. BMW after 100k digs a little deeper in your pockets after 100k because the parts are made for BMW and it's BMW labor lol. You should have no issues if you have it checked out and the records look good. You will alway have an oil leak somewhere no matter what.
