My Ride: 2006 530i CPO/ Silver Gray Metallic/ Steptronic/ Sport Pkg/ Premium Pkg/ Cold Weather Pkg/ Nav. System/ Comfort Access/ Black Dakota Leather Interior
Thumbs up

Hi everyone. I hope the thread title explains my primary question. I have a CPO 2006 530i w/ sport pkg that was newly shod with OEM Bridgestone RFT's when I bought the car. Since I live in the St. Louis, MO area, I am planning to install Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus (245/40-18 all around) in anticipation of cold weather. My questions are: what pressure should I inflate to on these tires? I wasn't sure the pressures listed on the door frame applied to anything other than the OEM run-flats.

Secondly, the OEM tires are like new (9/32 tread in front, 8.5/32 in rear); is it worth hanging on to them and trying to sell them? Any idea what a reasonable asking price would be? I'm not looking to make a profit, just take the sting out of buying new tires so soon.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I have the same tires, only staggered, and I run 38psi. Depends a bit on your taste. You probably can unload your tires on e-Bay or Craigslist. I did.

Thanks for your rapid reply. If you feel comfortable saying, any idea on what I can hope to get for the OEM's?

Thanks again! Can you believe this weather? I heard them talking about snow flurries Saturday morning. I sure hope i don't end up wishing I'd bought snow tires and extra wheels instead of all-season tires... The guy I spoke to at Tire Rack recommended all seasons rather than the extra expense of snows and wheels. Watch us have a record setting winter...

My son is in St. Louis, and we just put a set of those Michelin pluses on his 530. He likes them in the rain. Hopefully, they will be fantastic; at least the price implies they will. Actually, no sense in putting kmart tires on an expensive car.

I've had the Michelin A/S's on my 2004 530 for about a month. Since I live in Houston, snow isn't likely to be an issue, but they are great in the rain. I run them at the high end of the door post pressures -- if I recall properly, 35 front and 41 rear. The ride would be a little softer at the lower end of the range, but I was chasing better mileage.

I had them installed at Costco, which includes nitrogen filling instead of air. I can't tell any difference, but the checks and refills are free.

Yeah, this rain sucks. However, these PS A/S are tops in this weather. I put mine on almost two years ago, so I've already been through two winters with them. You won't be disappointed. Last year there were maybe two days where I wished I had snows, which isn't worth it. You will love these tires.

Thanks, all! I am pretty excited to try these tires out; I'm having Dobbs put them on for me in the morning. Thanks for the advice on tire pressure. I'm glad to hear they should do fine in our winter weather; the sales rep @ Tire Rack said the same thing. I figure if it snows really hard, either my wife and I will use her FWD Acura TSX, or we'll stay home for the day No use taking the E60 out in that kind of mess anyway...

Dobbs is good for tires. I use the one in Sunset Hills. If you happen to be using that location, ask for Kevin.
