My Ride: 2006 523i M Sport Package white 2002 996 C2 silver 1997 993 C2s red
Post

Hello

I have just purchased a set of style 172 rims for my 2006 523i.

What is the proper tire size for front/rear?

Can I use 245 for both F/R?

Thank you for the help

no. as the rears are wider you need 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rears

True, but I guess it's possible to buy 4 'front' rims and you could run 4 x 245/35/19...

Correct, but he only said he bought a set of 172. And a standard set of 172 comes with wider rears. That's my assumption.

Yeah, 100% correct assumption. The front and rears are separate part numbers.

Front rims are 8.5J and rears 9.5J... (And offsets to match)

He bought his OEM 172s from quad_m. He's going to have to go with a staggered setup. 245s for the rear will be out of the question.

I think 255's are the smallest width you can fit to a 9.5J rim but I'd stick with the 'official and recommended' 275's... Why are you keen to avoid the 275's?
