I asked and he said you maybe need new light unit.

I looked in catolugus and the 5 haves now brake lights whit stronger when you brake harder like the X5

Your dealer is talking rubbish.
When the E60s first came out the US spec. cars already had them. EU cars had to wait until start of 2004. Its only a software update. No changing of light unit involved. I've proved it!!! It the software for the lights that needs activating. Check the link in my post above. It should explain it.

This last bit from my post last year should help:-

I asked what he did to activate the function. Basically from what I remember, the technician carrying out the work needs to:-
1). Upgrade the software to latest version (in my case 12.1.2).
2). After upgrade. Go to another menu/section called "Retrofit" and update the "Light Module" section. I believe EBV is stated and not BFD in the software as its in German.

Obviously latest version of software would not be 12.1.2 anymore
