I still believe BMW should have given the E60 LEDs like the E46 3 series Coupe and 6 series.
Even the new VW Passat will have LEDs.

Yup ! I agree!!! the E60 should have had ALL LEDs from the get go. Its lame to have a 2004 brand new car and not have LEDs. BMWs cheap design way to "facelift" the car later on. Change lights to LEDs.

BTW does the W211 E class have LEDs? I forget.

I think the higher models of the E class will had LEDs for the brake lights only.

I believe (from pictures) the rear lights on the new E90 3 Series will have the red "LED Rod" like lights similar to the E39 5 series. Now if that was true BMW should have put those on the E60 is they couldn't afford the LEDs.

From the new E90 pictures, I think it only has Celis (E39's LED) for the tail lights, but not brake lights. Just take a look at BMW USA E90's sites, and you can see they use traditional bulbs for brake lights and indicator lights. That's a step backward compare to the latest E46 coupes.

Very true but a step forward compared to the E46 saloon.
Still I think the E60 should have had at least those Celis (E39's LED) in a different design of course.

Yes you can.
I've had it done on my November 2003 built E60. All it needs is a software upgrade and updating the lights section of the software. See link which I raised last year about it. Here it is again. BFD

Yep. Dealer updates software and activates it. Just ask him to do so.
