My garage door opener (main unit) took a crap today and I ended up having to replace the whole thing. I ended up getting a Chamberlain belt drive garage door opener. After installing everything all openers/keypads work fine but I can't get the Homelink in my e60 sync'd up with the new garage door unit. Pairing it to my old Craftsman opener was EASY, but this one really seems to be a challenge.
Do you guys have any tips by chance? I've gone through the owners manual re-reading the section about "rolling codes" and have been very unsuccessful so far.

You really need two people to do this, here are some helpful suggestions:
1. Make sure car is in garage, all the way in as you dont want to chance the door coming down on the vehicle. Not that it would with the safety eyes...but ya never want to take that chance.
2. You will need the help of a friend to press the button on the opener to initialize the programming mode.
3. You will need one person in the car familliar with the instructions to get the home link into the programming mode. It varies on some vehicles but I think mine was pressing both outside buttons simultaneously until they blink fast.
4. have your chaimberlan remote ready to pair with the designated home-link button, your instructions should explain further. Pairing it usually consists of holding both buttons until it turns solid or blinks slower...again this varies on different vehicles.
I have never been able to do it on my own, and never had a problem when I had a friend to help.
Cheers!

While having two people can make it slightly simpler, it's not required. Every opener gives ample time between the button press on the unit and the button press on the remote.
If you're having trouble after following the directions posted above, do a search here on the forums. The keyword 'Homelink' should yield plenty of hits...

Reviving a thread from the past!
Well, we built a new house and I installed 2 Chamberlain garage door openers (the same kind I had in my last house) the other day so I figured I'd try to get the Homelink feature working in my e60. I finally got it to work, but man it was a PITA. I watched the video on Homelink's website probably 10 times and it worked like a charm.

Congrats!

Four important points that helped me program my homelink mirror:
1. Follow the directions religiously - I print the steps and try to memorize them. In the few seconds it takes to refer back to a step seems to disrupt the programming process
2. Before starting, clear previous codes per the instructions
3. It helps to have a helper to avoid juggling remotes ... have that person read you the steps ... Sounds like a small thing but it works!
4. Be in very close proximity to the device you're trying to enable. Our homelink mirrors have very limited range [I find it to be ~ 50 feet max]

I programmed my garage doors without any problems, but just couldn't get it right with the rolling gate.
They should be the same?
