Hey all,

Just bought a used key fob as backup off ebay and need a bit of assistance getting it set up.

I've searched around and can't seem to find a guide to program a secondary key fob for our E60's. The 3 series forum had one that didn't work for me, and I've heard you can just stick the fob (comfort access btw) into ignition for 30 sec and it will program itself. That didn't work for me either...

Thanks for any info!

Should've asked before you did that. You can't reuse these keys.

I bought my car at CarMax, and one key worked (Comfort Access) the other did not. I took it to the dealer and they charged $180 to program the new one to the car.

I don't think it's something they do often...charged me for 1.5 hours of labor....took them 3.5

Please let us know if it works. My buddy just ordered me a new key after cutting my old one open. Would be good to know if this technique can be used to program those blank keys.

Blank keys, yes, but already programmed key, no.

hate to bring this zombie thread back to life, but I just got a new blank key from a place here in ohio that sells aftermarket replacements. I haven't been able to get it programed by the methods in this thread(I'm going to try some more later today) I have a 2010 e60 without comfort access. It only came with 1 key so I figured paying $25 for another to try out wouldn't hurt. Does anyone have any updated instructions?
