Hi guys,

Does anyone here knows how to modify the navigation software 2007-2 so that it takes the FULL 7 digit post code entry instead of just 5. I have just modified my navigation software to show me the speed cameras but all thats left now is to modify it to take FULL 7 digit postcode entry.

Thanx

You can't make something out of nothing.

The extra data simply isn't held on the DVD nor is the database structure capable of storing, accessing and displaying such extended fields..

Anything is possible if you try hard enough, even this.

Actually that's not true about "anything". That's why during Systems Analysis of any development an early phase is the Feasibility Study one outcome of which is the Technical Feasibility. Limitations there may be budget, technical, headcount, technology, training, timescales etc... Some you can overcome by modifying your specification, timescales or budget others can't be overcome eg the required technology isn't available in the timeframe to suit the particular need.

Sure this is possible but do we have the headcount, training, technical skills and sensible timescales to deliver what has been requested?

I take your general point but sometimes some people just read too many motivational books...

Congratulations. Someone had the budget, technical knowledge, headcount, technology, training and timescales to create THIS POI-based version using the same techniques as I used to add Fish and Chip shop locations!

The POI-based postcode implementations which, unless they've evolved over the last three years, are limited in accuracy IIRC and can be incomplete. Completeness of POI data may have improved over the years...

This approach CAN provide a discrete solution which, unfortunately, isn't integrated with the address database but provides an element of functionality.

With modification of user requirements anything "IS" possible. It's called management of expectations!
