Apologies if this is a stupid question - the production week on the computer for my car is week 50-12-2004. It has already been given a VIN. DOes this mean it will be produced week commencing 13th Dec? Or does BMW have a different financial calendar?

Mid December sounds correct - 2 weeks before end of year.

Cool Why is BMW's week number sequence 1 week out from a calendar - any ideas?

p.s. how do you find this information? I've been searching for the answer but no joy.

It depends on whether you start week 1 at the first week having days of january or the first full week in January. You either end up with a week 53 (since 52*7=364) with a few days in January or a week 1 with a few days in December. I believe the European way is the latter.

Well, that's on my calender. Since I am in Germany it is showing the same week numbering like BMW's calender. Even my Outlook shows the same.
And if you got a VIN allready your production is in the next 7 days. They don't assign VIN's so early. I think I've heard they assign VIN's three days prior to start of production, what would mean your car will be build Monday. But that I don't know for sure.

Yep, we are in the tail end of Week 49. In fact my car was just released to the carrier (Status 160), a day or so ahead of it's estimated completion date. It seems you can expect about 6-7 days once it goes 150 and you have a VIN.

Yeah, the sestimated completion date of mine is Dec 7, inWK50. Now it's in the paint shop. They started production prior to it, but the car will be coming out in the week of estimated completion date....

Just got the latest printout from the system posted to me (after I'd changed my mind earlier in the week and got the dealer to add 'through load seats').

Stupid question time again - I assume the VIN prefix and the chassis number are combined to create my unique VIN?

Is there an up to date online VIN checker which has the 535d Sport models on it's database?
