Hi.

I am in the process of buying an E60 2005 530d Sport (218 bhp) in the UK.

I am wondering are there issues that tend to happen with these cars that I should look out for?
I read about the starter not always catching.
I heard something about the turbos, but not sure what the problem is.

Any others?

Looking forward to becoming an owner. Such a great looking car!

Cheers.

The engine in the 530D was updated in September 2005, you might want to see if you can find one with 170 kW.

Thanks for the info.
My budget is pretty low, (12K ish) so I'd struggle to find a late 05 one with low mileage.
Cheers.

you will be supprised with what you can get for ?12k, good luck with your choice, dont forget you can get a SE model with high spec and budget ?1k for the compleate M sport body kit fitted and painted
softer shocks give a better ride in my oppinion here in the UK
also try and get pro nav and heated seats

theres lots out there.
as far as issues go i think the E60 diesel is better than most..

Sounds good. Hope you buy it from a BMW dealer.

Be sure that the car has been served right!

Get it served with a oil and oil filter change plus belove...

At 50K (miles or kilometer's?) then front brake pads are gone.

Also demand new air filters (both inside- and engine-), a brake fluid change and new coolant fluids.

New wiper blades it will need.

Also check the whole front chassis and the A/C (that the fan works to max when adjusted).

Door seal squeaks are common for a E60.

Good luck!

Thanks a million. I'll look out for these.
Getting from an Audi garage from trade in.
50k Miles.
I will have to get a service soon, and get these things done.
Thanks.

Definately pay now for the extras you want, adding most things is either impossible or prohibitive due to cost, pay now, or pay much much more later.........

Do you mean extras or servicing?
