I see on the latest South African price lists a new 550i A/T Sport package with no extras costs ZAR729,200 which, if you take the currency rate of ZAR9.21=US$1 in account, equates to about US$79,174.

Do you guys think we are paying too much?

You're kidding..... base price here of a 550iA is US$ 125,000. And that's without sat nav or sport package. You will also have to pay extra for xenon......

And don't get me started about the gas prices here......

For my current car, a 2005 525i A/T with +/- 35,000 miles on the clock, I paid the equivalent of US$28,000.

Oh, and we pay the equivalent of US$1 per litre for gas. I don't know what the conversion rate is from litres to gallons, but you can make the sum.

That's not that high. And also 26,000 for a BMW.... are you sure we're talking brand new here?

EDIT: I see you meant 2ndhand.

Here in the UK, a 550i sport with the same spec as my car would be over ?53k. At $1.75 to GBP this equates to US $92,750, so you are doing too bad!

Nah, they just changed that. All we need to do is walk into a dealership with a bag of Doritos and a 2-liter bottle of Coca Cola and they literally throw the cars at us.
