Hi all, new to the board. May be looking for a 535 later in the year, but I am starting my homework now. I did a search for 535 and pricing, but did not see anything directly on point. I am sure this has been discussed before, however, so I apologize for bringing it up again.

Anyone know what BMW is going to do with pricing for the 535 vs. the current 530? I have driven the 335ci, and that engine is wicked. Thanks.

No is the brusque answer.

Welcome to the forum in spite of that!

Well, we do know that the 530's life is coming to an end soon. From what I understand, future 5 models will be the 528, 535, 550 and of course, the M5. That will be a sad day in history.

Not trying to start a rumor, but is you look at the price difference between the 330 and the 335, you will see that it is around $4K (USD) difference. It would be safe to assume that the increase in price from the 530 to 535 would be around $4-5K. That will put the price of the 535 closer to the 550, which is around $3K more. Now the real question is which car would you rather have, the 535 or the 550. Personally, if it was only $3K more, I would go for the 550.

Anywhere but USA the fuel running costs differential would soon outweigh that order of magnitude capital savings, and the financial increments between models would be that much greater anyway.

It then boils down to what is worth paying for.

That's why BMW offer all the different models, I guess...

Wasn't the 330 a sedan? The coupe generally costs more to begin with. Unless you're comparing the E46 coupe to the new one. I would guess that IF the 535 was introduced this March we wouldn't hear much about prices until February. There may also be a shuffle in options with a slight bump in the price of the 550. I would personally like a 535i for it's lower weight but would rather have it be normally aspirated.

I am by no means a "tuner" or interested in modding a car that I would probably lease anyway, but I have always hear that cars with turbos are easier to "mod" and beaf up than n/a cars. Thus, even if the costs were similar, you may be able to get a 535 for $3k less, then put $3k in mods on it, and have it at 400 hp or more, thus surpassing the 550.

Personally, having a driven a 545, I would rather have the v8 than the six any day. I had twin turbos on my Audi (and have a turbo on my Volvo), and the acceleration curves have never felt that "natural" to me (seemed jumpy). Although when I drove the 335, it definitely did not have that same feel to it as my Audi did.

Welcome 1esquire

Officially no facelift nor new engines are on the list.

Wait about 1,5 month.

You can calculete something be comparing the E90/E92 prices...
