Does anyone here NOT put premium in their tanks?

BMW told me to only use premium when I got my car. However my friend told me that he talked to someone that works at BMW and they said that regular fuel works fine, as long as it's from a bigger gas company like BP, Mobil, or Shell. He has been using reguar fuel in his 745i without problems.

With the gas prices being so high, this would be an easy way to save a little money.

The car drinks more on the lower octane, so you have to buy more, so you dont save much, and the car doesnt produce all its rated power

You should not worry about gas prices when you own a car like 545i and 745i..

I agree 100%. Trying going to Europe sometime. Good LORD, talk about expensive fuel.

In UK unleaded fuel is 85 pence per litre. I did some sums, this works out to $6.06
per US Gallon ( if my calculations are correct! ). What is it there?

I have doen this experiment over several years now with 3 cars that "require" premium gas. I have never felt a difference in performance in regular driving
and I have never been able to measure a difference in fuel consumption.
The energy contents of high-octane fuel is actually less due to the low C hydrocarbon additives for increasing the combustion T and p.

In HK i have no choice because both large gas station chains, Caltex and Shell rip people off by only selling 98 octane gas!!!

I'm paying about $2.40 a gallon for 93 octane Supreme. And that is the highest price I've ever seen in my lifetime.

I would never use anything less, though.
