Hey Guys,

I'm looking to purchase either 2007 525i or 2008 528i pretty soon.
Both cars have CPO warranty, Sport Package, Premium, etc. Similar specs other than the model year and HP.
2007 model has about 28000 miles and 2008 model has about 55000 miles.

Price difference will be around $3000 ish (roughly 2007 - $28xxx out the door, 2008 - 31xxx out the door) and I'm just curious if getting 2008 model will be that much worth despite the higher milage.

What are your opinions?

Thanks in advance and I can't wait to join this community!

Mark

Personally I opt for lower miles especially in a BMW. Plus you insurance and registration would be cheaper on the 07 rather than 08

I'd go newer - but either way I'd offer less. $31k is too much for a 2008 528 IMHO. More like $27k or $28k.

Hell I'm selling my 550i m-sport for $34k on this forum - its mint condition, only 33,000 miles, and with full new car BMW warranty and free maintenance till July 2012, then CPO till 2014. So for only $3k less they are offering a 528 with about 22k more miles than my 550i? Somethings not right??? And I think its there price on the 528 man.

good luck.

Agreed, that is too much for a 528. I picked up my 535i for 32k out the door (29k before ttl). Not CPO, but still under original warranty.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I know $31000 is not that low but seem like an average price (remember, out the door meaning including tax and everything). Not that I wouldn't negotiate it but it is hard to tell until the last minute when I flash them the dough, right? Anyways, bha7176's car including tax will be close to $37000 i'm assuming so that is about $6000 difference. But I completely agree the 08 model that i looked shouldn't be that high considering the mileage.

Oh, I just found out from the dealer about the 07 model, it is NOT a CPO car, even though they advertised it as CPO. I don't know how much they are gonna lower the price to move it off the lot but I rather have CPO if possible.

I'll be keep looking around until I find a good one.

LOL. I would love to do that, really. But I'm actually looking for a better gas mileage commuter right now with little more room than my other car.

Sure in certain realms during hard economic times cash is king. However, I doubt it's king when it comes to negotiating the car. BMW wants you to finance and finance through them, that's where they make good money actually. Nevertheless, negotiate but let them think you are financing. Once they agree, then pay in cash if you have it. Never pull the cash card until the end. Get maximum leverage. LOL. Now this doesn't apply to all situations of course. You have to analyze the situation accordingly.

Great advice. I'll keep that in mind and postpone my cash/down payment card as long as I can.

I wish there is a service that we can pay (i'll gladly pay someone couple hundreds to do the haggling for me to get the price I want. Hey, there's a business opportunity for someone!)

Anyways, I'll keep shopping around for sure!

BTW, does 08 528i have good MPG over 535i? Also, I've heard some problems with BMW's turbo charged cars that made me to stay with comfortable N/A formula...
