Has anybody done a pre-inspection/inspection at the Indi shop before your factory warranty runs out to find any possible warranty work?

I have called the local Indi place and they said they highly recommend it (of-course they would) as they charge about $100 to do this inspection.
Do you recommend doing this? Is it worth the money? Don't you think the dealer want to find any warranty work and do it anyway as they will get paid by the BMW under warranty.

What are your guys? thoughts on this....?

Thanks

I would say you got nothing to lose as it's only $100. However, if you do not feel/notice the problems,
then it means it's not broken, it may be on the way soon but as of right now, it is not broken.
I seriously doubt that the dealer would fix the "possible problems" under warranty.
There's a good chance you will receive 'unable to duplicate the problems' or normal at this mileage etc.

The best method is to READ every single TSB abt your car and approach your SA w/ those complains.

My SA was overwhelmed when all of sudden I gave him longgg lists of problems

He fixed most under warranty even he could not duplicate the issue

I'm not experiencing any problems, and some got fixed under warranty (like s/w update, eyebrow lights, mp3 enabled, noisy sunroof etc).

I do feel some, very slight slam sometime in the transmission ONLY when starting from a stop (not at all while stopping though) but I don't think its anywhere close to the known tranny slam issue mentioned here.

Thanks for your replies.

My indi shop also recommended having a check done before the warranty expires. They could find hard-to-see problems like worn bushings. I'm a little skeptical, but it will probably make me more comfortable, and that's worth $100.

+1 on looking for the TSB's, and getting everything fixed before hand. (Still got to get them to adjust the sunroof.....what a POS.) Anyway I'll try to be nice about it..............
